This week we’ve been taking a closer look at each of Bridgestone’s four new tyres in turn, ahead of their release in early 2019.
Complementing their more road oriented Battlax Adventure A41, the new Adventurecross AX41 is aimed at riders who want to take their machines both on and off the tarmac.
Just as was the case with the new E50, Bridgestone have relied on their know-how in the motocross market to develop a serious off-road contender.
The AX41 uses very specific block shapes and positioning for the very best balance of stability, durability and off-road grip to make this a true dual sport tyre.
Newly developed Anti-Irregular Wear Technology has been developed to reduce the effects of heel and toe wear. The profile of the tread blocks reduce the affects of deformation under braking, therefore boosting their durability.
Bridgestone engineers have also re-designed the overall dimensions of the tyre, which has allowed them to incorporate a greater number of tread blocks than if they had adopted the carcass used on the road-oriented Adventure A41.
They have also developed a new compound, which further aids block rigidity, to give the very best balance between off-road grip and tyre mileage.
The initial range will be as follows:
- 130/80 B17 M/C 65Q TL – Rear
- 140/80 B17 M/C 67Q TL – Rear
- 150/70 B17 M/C 69Q TL – Rear
- 170/60 B17 M/C 72Q TL – Rear
- 150/70 B18 M/C 70Q TL – Rear
- 100/90-19 M/C 57Q TL – Front
- 110/80 B19 M/C 59Q TL – Front
- 120/70 B19 M/C 60Q TL – Front
- 90/90-21 M/C 54Q TL – Front
In early 2020, a further 15 sizes are expected to join the range to make it available to a far greater number of bikes.
