This week we’re taking a closer post-INTERMOT look at four brand new tyres announced by Bridgestone, all due out early next year.
Yesterday we checked out the Battlax S22 hypersport tyre, and today it’s the turn of their new enduro rubber, the Battlecross E50.
During a multi-year development process, Bridgestone have transferred across several technologies from their championship winning motocross range, and adapted them for the enduro market.
Engineers have come up with a completely re-worked tread block layout, which has increased bolstered both cornering and traction grip by greatly increasing the edge component of the tread blocks at both ends of the bike.
They have also opted to use a dual compound construction incorporationg a softer rubber compound on the sidewalls, while also altering the shape and profile of the tyre towards the rim guard. This is an often overlooked factor and makes the tyre far easier to fit than the current Gritty range, which is sure to make it popular track side when riders are in a rush.
Castle Block Technology has proved to be extremely effective in creating tyres which can offer increased performance over a wider range of terrain types. Essentially a block-within-a-block, this proven technology taken straight from Bridgestone’s current motocross range offers additional traction thanks to increased edge effect as surfaces change.
The tyre is expected to arrive with us in January of 2019 in the following sizes:
- 120/90-18 M/C 65P
- 140/80-18 M/C 70P
- 90/90-21 M/C 54P
It is road homologated, and can be used in all levels of enduro competition.
