We’re pleased to announce that the first stocks of Metzeler’s new MC360 street legal motocross range are now available at Cambrian Tyres for our trade customers.
Replacements for the MC4 and MC5, Metzeler’s latest tyre comes in a Mid-Soft and Mid-Hard version, both of which are said to be reversible to extend tyre life and value for money.
The German tyre maker say it is aimed at both professional and amateur riders, and with the inclusion of 18″ sizes, it’s also a potential option for enduro and green laning.
Under the surface, Metzeler have developed a three-ply casing using Polyethylene Terephthalate, otherwise known as PET. The manufacturer has chosen PET as it allows them to create an impact-resistant tyre with “a good balance between softness and toughness.”
Both options feature a 100% Carbon Black compound developed to offer increased resistance to tearing and greater all-round durability. The key difference between the Mid-Soft and Mid-Hard compound is the amount of stiffness found in the footprint area of the tyre.
The Mid-Hard version uses Continuous Knob Binding Technology to further increase durability, and has a higher land to sea ratio than the Mid-Soft for maximum grip on difficult terrain.
The front Mid-Soft features five rows of tread blocks, with just three on the rear. Alternated cuts on the rear pattern are said to offer progressive traction in the turns, and the central blocks are parabolic in design to optimise their penetration into the surface of the track.
The tread design of both options includes alternated diamond-shaped knobs on the tread shoulders and V-shaped grooves between the centre and shoulder knobs. Metzeler state that these features improve the self clearing abilities of the tread pattern.
At present we have all sizes of the Mid-Soft in stock, with more to follow as it becomes available.
