Dunlop TrailSmart Reviewed After 4,000 Miles

Dunlop TrailSmart reviewUpdating their Trailmax TR91, Dunlop released the new TrailSmart onto the UK market in 2015, and recently we were invited to try out a pair for the day at the Geraint Jones Off-Road School right here in Mid Wales.

Someone else who has been putting the new Dunlop’s through their paces in Tony Hoare of Motorcycle News, who has now put 4,000 miles on a pair over the course of 4 months:

“Adventure bike owners can be demanding” says Tony in their September 30th 2015 edition. “We want a tyre that’s excellent on the road, but still looks like credible off-road kit (regardless of whether we’ll ever leave the tarmac). The TrailSmart meets those demands. It has the feel of a sports-touring tyre but the look of a dirt tyre and can deal with light trails. They grip well in dry or wet, are agile and lasted well. After 4000 miles they were squaring off, but still had another 1000 – 2000 miles in them.

The price is reasonable, but equivalent Bridgestone A40s are currently about 10% cheaper per pair.”

In a recent wet weather test by the world renowned independent Motorrad Test Centre, the new Bridgestone Adventure A40 also came out top of the pile, although the new Dunlop was not available for testing, so the older Trailmax TR91 was tested, and came in 2nd place.
