In 2015, the Kawasaki Versys 1000 finally overcame it’s identity crisis.
After a few years of trying to look like an adventure motorcycle, but without any ground clearance or other discernible off-road qualities – Kawasaki decided that the bike was definitely for road use only, and tweaked the design accordingly.
Now, a pure road touring bike needs pure sport touring tyres – and Kawasaki decided to opt for the Bridgestone Battlax T30, well known for it’s durability and outright grip.
After putting more than 5,000 miles on his long term test bike, MCN’s Michael Guy has been giving his thoughts in their September 23rd issue on how the tyres have performanced:
“I’m now 5300 miles into life with the Versys and it’s time to change tyres. I’ve been very impressed with the original Bridgestone T30 tyres, which have predictable levels of grip and exceptional longevity. I want to replace them only because they’re squared off, not because they’re actually worn out. In fact they still have a very healty amount of tread remaining.”
In some sizes, the original Battlax T30 has now been replaced by the Battlax T30 EVO which boasts even better wet grip for that additional level of security when you get caught out in the rain. In fact, the new tyre performs so well in the wet it recently topped an independent test by the world renowned Motorrad Test Centre which you can see here.
