Road racing star Derek Sheils has claimed his second Irish Road Race Superbike title on Dunlop tyres after a stellar performance at the recent Faugheen meeting.
Victory in the opening race at Faugheen put him out of reach of his nearest challenger Derek McGee, also running on Dunlop tyres, with four races remaining.
The Cookstown BE Racing rider started his season with victories at the Cookstown 100, Walterstown and Mid Antrim 150 road races on the team’s GSX-R1000.
Derek also enjoyed a strong performance at this year’s Isle of Man TT, finishing an impressive 13th place in the Senior race among some big names around The Mountain Course.
At the recent Armoy Road Races, Sheils was outpaced by Michael Dunlop, but still took hard fought podium placed finishes in both the Supersport and Superbike places to rack up even more points to add to his impressive tally for the season.
As a brand, Dunlop have a long and prestigious association with the world of road racing, with many wins and titles under their belts – and they continue to be the most successful manufacturer of all time at the Isle of Man TT.
