Bridgestone Launch Fuel Efficient Maxi Scooter Tyre For 2014

Bridgestone Battlax SC Ecopia Maxi Scooter TyreBridgestone has announced the launch of a low rolling resistance Ecopia tyre for Maxi Scooters into it’s Battlax SC range.

The new Battlax SC Ecopia provides excellent levels of handling, stability and comfort as well as offering great durability and tread life.

Fuel efficiency has been improved thanks to a 15% reduction in rolling resistance. In order to achieve this Bridgestone has focused on three key factors:

  • Compound
  • Tyre Shape
  • Construction

Rolling resistance is primarily caused by tyre deformation and the generation of heat, which requires energy which could be used to propel the scooter or motorbike forwards. Reduced rolling resistance equals heat generated and energy used, and therefore results in lower fuel consumption as the engine doesn’t need to work as hard.

The Battlax SC Ecopia’s silica compound uses the manufacturer’s Nano-Pro Tech™ technology which works at a molecular level to reduce the amount of heat generated by internal friction between the different compound elements, which in turn reduces energy loss and rolling resistance.

The shape and construction of the new tyre has also been optimised to further minimise this energy loss, by reducing tyre deformation during rotation. Bridgestone use their proven Mono Spiral Belt Construction and High Tensile Super Penetrated Cord in order to reduce running temperatures by better controlling the deformation of the tread area while maintaining the tyres grip, stability and mileage performance.

The new tyre will be available in January 2014 in the following sizes:

  • 120/70 R15 M/C 56H – Front
  • 160/60 R14 M/C 65H – Rear
  • 160/60 R15 M/C 67H – Rear
