The opening round of the 2015 Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship got underway in Gdansk, Poland earlier this month, with home favourite Taddy Blazusiak taking three wins from three to record a perfect start to his season.
There were accidents and incidents aplenty in the three Prestige class finals, but the Polish rider proved unbeatable as he took the overall win ahead of David Knight and Cody Webb, whilst exciting young newcomer Ty Tremaine of the USA took three wins in the Junior class.
After failing to win the opening round last season, Taddy got off to the worst possible start as he was involved in a crash with team mate Jonny Walker on the very first corner. However, he put in an amazing come back ride to take advantage when Webb crashed over a log jump with one lap to go.
Race 2 saw Dani Gibert of Spain take the holeshot in an all-Spanish battle for the lead. Again however, Blazusiak was able to take the lead and he opened up a significant advantage over Knight and Gibert in second and third respectively.
Race 3 was a more straight forward affair with Blazusiak leading from start to finish, even managing to lap a number of riders further down the field as he romped home to victory.
“It’s been the perfect start to the championship,” said an exhuberant Blazusiak from the podium. “To get three wins is just amazing, it’s given a great championship lead. It’s special to win here in Poland, and this result makes up for last year’s disappointments. I was taking risks, but somehow staying in control. It’s been an amazing night.”
The next round of the championship sees riders move on to the Erdgas Arena in Riesa, Germany on 3rd January, and the Pole will be looking to hammer home his early advantage in the points table.
