Pirelli Release MT 60 RS For Ducati Scrambler

Pirelli MT 60 RS

Ducati are the latest manufacturer to take advantage of the popularity of the scrambler style bike right now, with the release of their own model in Icon, Urban Enduro, Full Throttle and Classic versions.

Pirelli MT 60 RS Ducati ScramblerMaking the most of their close ties with Pirelli, the two Italian companies have collaborated to produce a redesigned MT 60 RS tyre, which has been created specifically to act as the OE tyre for the new Ducati bike in the following sizes:

  • 110/80 R18 – Front
  • 180/55 R17 – Rear

Described at an Enduro Street tyre, it is designed to offer sporty road performance, as well as traction on unpaved roads.

The tread pattern on the MT 60 RS sizes earmarked for the new Ducati Scrambler have been redesigned, with larger and more variable sized knobs on the edge of the tyre, giving rise to a new multi-pitch, as opposed to single-pitch design. Pirelli say this results in a significant decrease in the land/sea ratio, and a reduction in tread block movement.

These changes result in a reduction in braking distance, as well as improved front tyre stability. The new multi-pitch tread design also reduces the levels of noise generated by the tyre when riding. A zero degree belt has also been added to the front tyre, which further improves stability as well as steering precision.

The compounds have also been updated, with the front tyre using a new compound derived from the Diablo Rosso II, for high grip in both wet and dry conditions. A high silica content compound on the rear also ensures good mileage returns and high levels of wet grip.
