Honda’s inline four CBR650FA is a fantastic bike for the money – it might not have the sporting prowess of it’s CBR600RR big brother, but the bike is certainly more than you’ll ever need on the roads.
In the latest issue of Motorcycle News, our very own Bryn Phillips has been helping a reader to find the right replacement tyres for his ’14 plate Honda.
The rider has struggled to get on with the OE Dunlop D222 tyres from the word go, despite rarely riding in the wet – and was looking for something with excellent corner grip and reasonable longevity for trips on the continent.
Based on his needs, Bryn recommended the latest Battlax S21 from Bridgestone – they’re certainly sportier than the basic OE sport touring tyres, and the additional grip should offer a big boost in confidence.
When people hear ‘hypersport tyre’ longevity isn’t a word that tends to spring to mind – but with the latest advances in compound and contact patch technology they are certainly much better now than they used to be, closing in on sport touring territory in some cases. The rear is also multi-compound, with a harder wearing central band and softer shoulders for that increased grip when at lean.
The Battlax S21 is also excellent in the wet if you’re ever caught out by the weather when on a ride!
