New from Metzeler for 2016, say hello to the Roadtec 01 sport touring tyre!
Metzeler say that their new rubber “ensures excellent grip on both wet and dry roads including imperfect surface conditions, first-rate mileage and great stability at high speeds and at ‘full load’”
The Roadtec 01 has a completely new tread pattern, with the front using grooves placed at an angle which is transverse to the rolling direction of the tyre, therefore increasing mechanical grip of slippery surfaces.
The contact patch has also been revised to make it wider yet shorter, thanks to a fine tuning of the zero degree steel belt. This, Metzeler claim, will guarantee higher mileage and more consistent performance throughout the life of the tyre.
A dual compound rear uses 100% silica on the shoulders for excellent grip in the corners, and a mixture of silica and carbon black in the centre band to make sure the tyre is hard wearing.
Metzeler expect that the majority of sizes will be available by the end of June 2016, with the first sizes arriving in January. However, the 120/60 ZR17 will only arrive in early 2017.
