The new Battlax T30 EVO from Bridgestone offers riders the same assured, all-round performance of it’s standard T30 predecessor – but with upgraded wet weather grip and shorter braking distances.
The EVO uses a new formula compound and revised tread pattern to offer greater grip levels on wet roads, and shifting water more effectively from around the new, larger contact patch. The improved contact patch now offers more grip relative to your lean angle, to better compliment your riding style.
Launched under sunny Portuguese skies, along with the new Battlax Adventure A40, in their July 2015 edition Fast Bikes give their first impressions of the latest high performance sport touring option from Bridgestone after testing them on a Kawasaki Z800 and Yamaha MT-09:
“Both unfettered by electronic interference, other than ABS, each bike had more than enough power or torque to upset the rear, while both bikes suffer from a few nerves at the edge of lean, so any upgrade in rubber here would be keenly felt.
Comfort was the first impression I got from the tyres, their bump absorbing abilities on rough roads offering a magic carpet ride on the softly sprung zed. Yes, the suspension plays it’s part here, but a tyre’s ability to tackle a road’s imperfections just gives both man and machine an easier time. Over a variety of road surfaces the Evo’s felt great, much like before but with a soupcon of extra refinement.
When it came time to dive into the action, the Evos were ready. Warm ambient temperatures obviously helped, but the new tread block patterns also play a part. You can’t feel the transition to the softer compound on the front, but knowing it’s there on the rear encourages exploration of its grip. Like any good tyre, the Evo complimented both bikes accentuating their neutral feel and allowing you to get on with the job.
They steer well and offer confidence on the way into the turn, then grip all the way to the peg, with not one slip of complaint at the rear. Leant over on exit, the tyre never grumbled at yet another ham-fisted second gear wheelie. On these bikes, I’d have no qualms whatsoever about venturing onto a circuit, and if the wet claims are to be believed a tyre like this could be a savvy choice for a damp track day.”
Summing up Simon Roots commeted; “The T30 Evo is a tyre that allows a bike to play to it’;s strengths, and performance like this starts to encroach onto other tyres in the range – namely the S20 Evo. That intra family fight will have to wait for another day, as will our long term verdict, but first impressions count and the tyre copybook remains unblotted.”
