Building on the achievements of the Trailmax TR91, the new TrailSmart is the latest tyre from Dunlop aimed to modern adventure bikes and riders.
So how does Dunlop see a modern adventure bike rider?
“One who expects the performance from past super trail bikes, while also demanding all-around capabilities and comfort to suit long-distance riding. They seek modern conveniences, while still wanting to ride hard towards the next adventure.”
The new TrailSmart boasts a new high-silica content compound and cross-groove tread pattern to significantly improve wet grip, with an optimised land-sea ratio improving grip in the dry. Optimised groove angles across the tyre, in addition to the gaps between tread blocks, the tyre achieves better off-road performance than it’s predecessor.
Dunlop also claim an increased mileage yields of 14% over the Trailmax TR91, and the figure was proven in external tests undertaken by MTS (ES) last July, using the 110/80 R19 and 150/70 R17 on a BMW R1200 GS.
“We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Dunlop TrailSmart tyres. As Dunlop riders continue to expect adventure and the ‘forever forward’ lifestyle, these tyres offer both on and off-road capabilities in a 90/10 ratio, while also delivering increased mileage and exceptional wet and dry grip,” said Andy Marfleet of Dunlop
A total of 14 sizes will be released, with Dunlop saying this should take place between February and April this year.
