Yesterday at the EICMA trade show in Milan, German brand Metzeler presented the new Racetec RR to the world.
The new Racetec RR is the successor of the Racetec Interact, and will be available in K1, K2 and K3 compounds which offer high grip in all conditions, as well as precision, excellent stability and a more consistent performance.
The tyre has been developed using Metzeler’s experience and know how from the world of road racing, where they have taken 16 major wins this year. The new Racetec RR has been tested on famous courses including the North West 200, Ulster GP, Southern 100 and Isle of Man TT, where it was fitted to Gary Johnson’s winning Triumph Daytona in the Supersport class.
Metzeler claim to have expanded the versatility of the compounds, so the new K2 for example can now offer higher levels of performance at increased temperature, whils tht e K1 can now be used at lower temperatures, on a more aggressive road surface.
- K1 Compound – Soft – Blue label and tread stripe
- K2 Compound – Medium – Green label and tread stripe
- K3 Compound – Hard – Yellow label and tread stripe
The harder K3 compound is dedicated to non-competitive use and can be used at any temperature, on surfaces of varying abrasiveness, whilst offering significantly greater mileage.
The central longitudinal grooves are designed to optimise straight line stability in combination with the harder central compound. An innovative carcass material used on the structure of the new Racetec RR increases lateral stiffness to minimise the effects of vibrations felt at high speeds when racing on the roads.
Available from January 2015, the new Metzeler will be available in the following sizes:
