PS Magazine Hypersport Tyre Test 2014In their May 2014 edition, PS magazine in Germany have been putting some of the latest hypersport rubber to the test in order to help riders find the best tyre for their needs. The six latest products they have been testing are:

The tyres were put through their respective paces in wet and dry test scenarios by the PS magazine experts and scored on aspects such as handling, steering accuracy and handling under hard braking.

The Bridgestone Battlax S20 EVO with it’s proven 5 layer compound rear and 20% increase in rear tyre mileage over the original Battlax S20 was crowned as the overall test winner by the magazine who praised the fact that the tyre showed no major weaknesses in any of their tests, exhibiting strong performance in all conditions.

The ContiSportAttack 2 as used by California Superbike School UK on all their track bikes was rated as the “Best On Public Roads” with testers saying it set the benchmark for dry road riding performance. It registered a perfect 10/10 for handling when cold and also scored 29/30 for dry and 10/10 for wet handling at temperature, the highest scores of any tyre tested. The tyre also scored highly for dry steering accuracy with 29/30 point from testing, again the highest of all tyres tested. The tyre features all of Continental’s core technologies including Traction Skin, Continuous Compound Technology, Black Chili compound and a zero degree belt.

The Michelin Pilot Power 3 was rated as the best tyre in the wet of all those tested, registering the fastest lap time by around half a second over its nearest rival, the Bridgestone Battlax S20 EVO. It scored a perfect 30/30 in the wet grip test and was dubbed the “specialist in the rain” by PS magazine.

The final award went to the Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa which was rated as “Best on Race Track” scoring well for setting the fastest dry condition lap time of any of the six tyres tested. It scored an almost perfect 39/40 for dry grip, and performed just as well as the Continental, Bridgestone and Michelin under hard braking.
