Avon Tyres will support the Leicestershire & Rutland Blood Bikes (LRBB) in 2020 by equipping the charitable organisation’s van and motorcycle fleet. Under this agreement, Avon will supply their Avon Spirit ST sport touring tyres, which are designed to deal with the wide variety of roads and weather conditions that Blood Bike riders often encounter.
Run by volunteers, the LRBB delivers an array of urgently required medical items to public health bodies in the counties of Leicestershire and Rutland – an area of 979 square miles. It provides a free, out-of-hours service from Monday to Friday, with 24-hour cover at weekends and public holidays.
Under normal circumstances, public health bodies would be forced to use emergency ambulances or taxis to transport the aforementioned products. Thanks to the LRBB’s voluntary service, funds saved by the NHS on emergency ambulances and taxis can be re-directed to essential front-line services.
