Right off the back of Colton Haaker winning the World SuperEnduro championship on their Geomax tyres, Dunlop has revealed the technical details behind its latest generation of enduro tyre. Building on the knowledge gained at world championship level, the Dunlop Geomax Enduro EN91 delivers incredibly versatile performance for a wide range of off-road riders.
Enduro racing is characterised by long-distance time trials. Tyre versatility is essential when tackling such a wide range of terrain, and the Geomax EN91 brings together Dunlop’s vast experience into a package that offers the highest levels of performance and durability, whether for long-distance leisure rides or professional level competition.
Set to replace the Geomax Enduro D909, the EN91 features a new tread pattern designed to optimise traction in sand and mud. The front tyre features an ingenious shoulder pattern which delivers more nimble handling, while also reducing rider fatigue. Hex Shape Blocks which have additional edges offer more grip at varying angles. Tilt Crown Block technology has also been developed for the rear tyre to help provide higher grip on hard terrain, such as rocks. The tilted blocks improve terrain bite, aid directional stability and increase traction by forcing rocks and dirt to gather around the centre of the crown blocks.
Dunlop has also developed a new compound with increased shearing resistance to improve durability. However, this durability doesn’t compromise performance. By using a high-performance compound with a race-winning pedigree, Dunlop has also been able to significantly improve the rebound properties of the tyre. This helps maximise grip on rocky terrain. Dunlop have also employed their Casing Tension Control System within the construction design to give greater compliance on bumps and improves the feedback to the rider.
