This year has certainly been a memorable one for high-flying road racer Peter Hickman.
A spirited performance from the current TT lap record holder at this weekend’s Macau GP saw him claim his third victory in four years on the legendary street circuit.
In free practice and qualifying, Hickman and his teammate Michael Rutter were clearly in a league of their own, but Peter was to get the better of the 8 time winner come race day.
Rutter started strong, and soon took to the front of the pack in the opening stages. However, Hickman dug in and eventually found a way past on lap three, as he started to pull away.
Red flags came out following a serious incident in the closing stages, meaning the result was called based on the positions at the end of lap 8.
Peter’s Team Aspire Ho by Bathams BMW was fitted with Dunlop’s off-the-shelf KR106 and KR108 slick tyres, which his team praised as they celebrated their win:
“It does help to know he is on that epic Dunlop tyre. They’ve helped him take a win in every international road race this year.”
His Macau win follows on from impressive victories at this year’s NW200, Isle of Man TT and Ulster Grand Prix.
Dunlop’s Motorsport Manager Wim Van Achter praised their tyres’ performance:
“Trackday riders and club racers can obtain Dunlop KR tyres from their local dealer. It is a slick tyre that includes technology cascaded from our development tyres, but giving a confidence-inspiring wide operating window. This makes the tyre a popular choice for experienced racers like Hickman, as well as being versatile enough for a broader range of riding styles”.
