The 8 Hour of Slovakiaring was a new event on the FIM Endurance World Championship calendar for 2017, and the event turned out to be a huge success for organisers.
For the factory Yamaha Austria squad it was also a last chance to take a shot at the 2017 title with just two rounds to go.
Yamaha Austria, or YART for short, have been using off-the-shelf Bridgestone race tyres this season as the Japanese manufacturer made a return to top-level racing.
After leading at Le Mans, they lost out in the final stages to fellow factory Yamaha squad GMT94 by just 20 seconds. It was a similar story at Oschersleben, where the team eventually had to settle for second after running at the front for much of the 8 hour race.
Would Slovakiaring see a turn in YART’s fortunes?
Bridgestone have just released the latest episode of ‘The Long Run’ which goes behind the scenes with the team this season.
