YART & Bridgestone Top Preliminary Le Mans Test

YART Yamaha Official EWC Team

After announcing a return to top level motorcycle racing earlier this year, the team at Bridgestone will be delighted with their performance at the preliminary Le Mans 24 Hour test which took place at the end of March.

Back in February, Bridgestone unveiled themselves as an official partner to both the YART Yamaha Official EWC Team, and the F.C.C. TSR Honda team in the FIM Endurance World Championship. Since then several other teams including Falcon Racing and the Ducati Esprit Racing Team have decided to switch to the Japanese manufacturer’s off-the-shelf Battlax rubber.

At the two day test in late March, the Austrian based YART Yamaha Official EWC Team dominated proceedings to top the test and record a lap less than three-hundredths of a second off the circuit record.

“For all of us at Bridgestone, it’s great to be back again racing at the highest level,” said Nico Thuy, Head of Europe – Motorcycle at Bridgestone Europe. “Racing is part of Bridgestone’s DNA. We have been working closely with both teams to make sure that we have the best Bridgestone tyre package ready for Le Mans. We’re aiming for great results with our new team partners.”

The FIM Endurance World Championship is a worldwide competition consisting of five races: two in France and the remaining three in Germany, Slovakia, and Japan. The 24 Hour Moto at Le Mans is the second race of the current season which began in September 2016 and will end with the Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race at Japan’s Suzuka Circuit on 30 July 2017.

Bridgestone have won every Suzuka 8 Hour race for more than a decade, and will really fancy their chances once again in 2017.

After spending many years at the helm of MotoGP, Bridgestone have applied many of the things they have learned to their publicly available race tyre range, including the fantastic Battlax V02 Racing Slick which is really growing in popularity in the UK.
