A number of Continental Tyres’ motorcycle products now offer a 0° Steel Belted Construction which aims to balance the tyres ability to maintain its profile with the need for enough flexibility to offer good grip and feedback from the tyre.
Getting this balance just right was described in 2012 by Performance Bikes Magazine as the ‘Holy Grail of tyre design‘.
The 0° steel belt design in both the front and rear tyres eliminates the dynamic growth which is very common in bias-ply tyre designs which ensures that the tyre is able to maintain its profile, which in turn greatly improves high speed stability due to the greater amount of control exercisable over the contact patch area.
0° radial construction also means that the tyres offer improved bump absorption, leading to better contact between the tyre and the road surface which offers superb ride comfort.
As the ContiTrailAttack 2 needed to meet rigorous requirements of both fast and often heavily loaded adventure bikes, a strengthened 0° steel-belted construction was developed and is used in both the front and rear radial versions of the tyre.
At the centre of the ContiSportAttack’s construction the patended 0° Steel Belted Construction provides a synchronicity of performance across front and rear, allowing riders to achieve arrow straight high speed stability along with forgiving, neutral turn in and handling response.
