When it comes to iconic superbikes, Suzuki’s Gixxer has to be near the top of the list, but it’s fair to say that in recent years the Japanese machine was left behind as other manufacturers chased bigger bhp figures and better electronics.
Well, all that has changed this year with the launch of the 2017 GSX-R1000R with it’s revolutionary Variable Valve Timing and other top tech which is said to benefit from Suzuki’s recent return to MotoGP.
But how would the Suzuki stack up against the market leading BMW S1000RR?
Armed with two stock bikes and the latest Bridgestone V02 Slicks as control tyres, also derived from time spent in MotoGP, the 44Teeth duo of Alastair Fagan and Baron von Grumble headed to Jerez for two days of testing.
