The annual bike festival held at the Prescott Hill Climb circuit near Gloucester in aid of the National Blood Runner’s charity was again well attended despite the poor weather predictions.
Bridgestone’s BDM Steve Watts took the Bikers Club road show to the event, whilst Graham Matcham was on hand representing the Continental brand, all backed up with support from Mathew and Owen of Cambrian Tyres in order to help Chris Mullins Tyres promote road safety and advise riders on making the right tyre choice, not only for their machine but their usage too.
The Hill Climb Sprint itself was fully subscribed for the whole day with everything you can imagine running up the hill on both 2 & 3 wheels, from vintage class motorcycles to sidecar racers and modern day race bikes. Although the wet conditions didn’t make for any record breaking times they did offer some interesting moments for both riders and spectators alike.
We took the opportunity to have a quick walk around the pit area and soon came across a serious diversity of bikes, from George Formby’s Isle of Man Special to Carlos Checa’s 2005 Ducati MotoGP bike which when started up rang out an incredible note! Even some 4 wheeled vehicles managed to sneak past the gates.
Not only does this event give us the chance to support such a worthy cause it also gives us the chance to speak with motorcycle enthusiasts, and with professional riders from the Police, Fire and Ambulance services.
Bridgestone is so often the manufacture of choice for the emergency services, and it was interesting to get feedback from those who ride for a living. We received plenty of very positive feedback from riders who had used the new Bridgestone Battlax T30 including the Severn Valley Blood runners who fit them to their fleet of Honda ST1300 Pan European & BMW R1200RT motorcycles. Reports from the riders were very favourable indeed, with riders confirming mileage returns in excess of 6000 miles as being quite common with some even reporting over 8000 miles from a rear.
This event also gave us the opportunity to introduce the all new Battlax S20 EVO, which is Bridgestone’s latest addition to the hypersport segment. This too generated a lot of interest with riders of super-sport bikes, with it’s increased levels of grip and mileage along with a proven 5 layer compound construction.
Graham also had a good day with a lot of interest in the Continental brand. With the introduction of the new ContiRoadAttack 2 EVO sport touring tyre with it’s increased mileage and improved wet grip, along with the recent launch of what is becoming one of the most popular adventure sport tyre choices in the ContiTrailAttack 2, the Continental brand continues to go from strength to strength.
Both of these products feature a number of flagship Continental technologies seen across a large section of their high quality range, including Traction Skin which reduces the need for scrubbing in the new tyre, as well as Black Chili compound for fast warm up times even in colder conditions.
