This year the lucky people at Bike Magazine have got their hands on KTM’s 1290 Super Adventure S, which they’ve had on long term test, covering several thousand miles in the process.
The ultimate luxury adventure tourer, the big KTM comes fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres as standard.
Here’s what Bike thought of the rubber in their December 2017 issue:
“The standard Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres are lasting well – 4000 miles in and they look like making double that easily.
Wet grip is good and dry grip great, a good match of durability with strong edge grip which copes with my more spirited riding at times.
They’re not really designed for trail riding.
Like so many adventure bike tyres they are ‘Trail’ in name alone.
That’s not to say they can’t take a gentle trail ride happily enough, though.”
