Harley-Davidson have been making waves with their first electric motorcycle, the LiveWire, but did you know they have also teamed up with Michelin to produce a brand new tyre especially for the bike?
Co-developed and co-branded with Harley-Davidson, the all new Scorcher Sport has been designed to handle the unique challenges presented by the power delivery and torque which is delivered by the Milwaukee brand’s first all-electric motorcycle.
This brand new tyre incorporates Michelin’s proven 2CT and 2CT+ dual compound technology, along with a brand new set of compounds which are said to be the most advanced to be used within the Scorcher range of products to date. The new compounds will extend the performance of the Scorcher range by providing outstanding levels of grip in both wet and dry conditions.
A radial casing has also been employed to help owners extract the maximum performance from the electric Harley, while the distinctive tread design and patented velvet sidewall design complement the styling on this innovative new machine.
It will come in two common sizes, a 120/70 ZR17 M/C (58W) TL front and a 180/55 ZR17 M/C (73W) TL rear.
Michelin invests more than £620 million in research and development every single year. This particular project saw Michelin engineers work directly with Harley-Davidson for two years to co-design the Scorcher Sport tyres specifically for the LiveWire. These tyres further illustrate Michelin Total Performance™, in which Michelin is committed to providing riders with an optimal balance of performances, from riding pleasure to safety to longevity.
