MotoGP Riders To Test Michelin From February 2015

Michelin MotoGP Tyres

As of 2016, French manufacturer Michelin will become the official tyre supplier to the MotoGP series.

With development of new control tyres already underway, riders including current championship front runner Marc Marquez could have their hands on them for a test and evaluation day as early as February next year.

As in British Superbike, wheel sizes are due to change from 16.5 to 17″ with Honda, Yamaha and Ducati set to start their own testing later this month.

February testing in Sepang has been extended from three to four days between 4th and 7th, with one whole day allocated to allow riders the time to test the new Michelin tyres. Only factory riders are understood to be allowed to take part in this additional day of testing.

A second round of testing will then take place between 23rd and 26th February, with the rest of the grid then getting their chance to give the new French rubber a try out on circuit.

There will also be a final round of testing at Qatar, but again only factory riders will be able to get involved in this session which will take place just before the start of the 2015 season.
