The annual Scottish Six Day Trial is now well underway on the shores of Loch Linnie near Fort William, Scotland, and things are going extremely well for French tyre giant Michelin.
A leading light in the world of trials, Michelin and their riders are currently leading proceedings at the halfway stage with James Dabill, Dougie Lampkin and Michael Brown separated by just three points at the top of the standings.
In the women’s competition, the ever impressive Emma Bristow also holds a healthy lead over the rest of the field.
Michelin secured their first win at the Scottish Six Day back in 1980, with Finland’s Yrjo Vesterinen also becoming the first foreign rider to win at the event, riding a Michelin shod Montesa.
More than 280 riders are taking part this year, with more than 180 obstacles ready to test their skills over the course of a grueling 500 miles.
Last year’s winner was SSDT legend Dougie Lampkin, who secured a record breaking 12th victory at the event. Riding for Vertigo, Lampkin is no doubt still a firm favourite to take the title come the weekend.
All three finishers on the main podium in 2018 chose to use Michelin’s Trial Comp tyres, and given the standings at the halfway stage, it’s almost certainly going to be another win for the French manufacturer this year!
