Michelin Power Supersport Evo Tested

Michelin Power Supersport EVO reviewThe Michelin Power Supersport Evo is one of a number of sporty new tyres released by the French tyre giant in 2015, and is designed for fast road riding and occasional track day use.

Shunning the OE sport touring tyres on his BMW R1200RS Sport SE, MCN editor Andy Calton decided to fit a pair to his long term test bike, his colleagues somewhat pessimistic about how a near slick tyre would cope if it rained.

Andy says:

“The Michelin Power Supersport Evos are awesome in the dry, offering feel and confidence I hadn’t enjoyed with the OE Metzeler Roadtec 8s. When it rains, it does get a little interesting. I find myself using Rain mode and taking things carefully. With only 50 miles of wet riding on the Michelins my lack of confidence is more down to the ‘frighteners’ put on me than the ability of the tyres. For now, I’ll take the extra grip and feel in the dry and take it easy in the wet.”

Under testing by Michelin, the Power Supersport Evo was around 2 seconds per lap quicker than it’s predecessor around Jerez circuit, and uses the latest in Active Casing Technology to provide more stability, and optimise the size of the contact patch for better grip and traction.
