French tyre manufacturer Michelin are almost certainly the dominant force in the World Enduro Super Series right now, and that dominance was once again underlined at the weekend as their riders completed a podium lock-out at the annual Red Bull Romaniacs!
It was a poignant moment for KTM rider Manuel Lettenbichler who topped the podium 10 years after his father Andreas claimed victory in Romania. He was joined on the podium by Alfredo Gomez (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing) and Graham Jarvis (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing) at the end of a grueling event.
Torrential rain swept across the Carpathian Mountains on the final day of the event, but Michelin’s riders were able to benefit from the consistent performance of their Enduro Medium tyres even when the ground became extremely slippery in the final stages.
Just off the podium were Billy Bolt (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing) and Mario Roman (Sherco Factory Racing), who ensured that all the top five finishers were running on Michelin Enduro tyres.
Ahead of next month’s Hawkstone Cross-Country, Lettenbichler’s maiden WESS win has propelled him to the top of the standings ahead of the two other podium finishers.
