Keen to strengthen their race presence in the UK in line with their re-entry into MotoGP, Michelin have entered into partnership with the famous Oliver’s Mount circuit in 2016.
Situated in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, the Mount is the only natural race circuit in England, and with four events scheduled for 2016 this will give the French manufacturer plenty of opportunity to reach out to even more riders with their logo displayed around the 2.5 mile course.
Likened to a miniature TT by the seaside, riders reach speeds of up to 180mph, and with a 70th anniversary this year, Oliver’s Mount are hoping for record crowds.
One big fan of the circuit is Michelin backed road racer Daley Mathison who has had some success there in recent years, adding his name to a list of former winners including Agostini, Sheene, Fogarty and McGuinness.
This year’s event are as follows:
- Spring Cup – 16th to 17th April
- Cock o’ The North – 18th to 19th June
- Barry Sheene Road Races – 23rd to 24th July
- Gold Cup – 24th to 25th September
Oliver’s Mount marketing director, Scott Beaumont said: “2015 was an amazing year for Oliver’s Mount with huge crowds and fantastic TV and media coverage. With the support of Michelin, we feel that our anniversary year in 2016 will be even better.
It really is fantastic news and we hope that this partnership will now grow over the coming years.”
Michelin’s marketing manager James Dimmock also commented: “We are all huge fans of road racing at Michelin and Oliver’s Mount is one of our favourites. Adding Michelin to the circuit partners further adds to our commitment to Road Racing and our support for the riders and events. Expect to see a great Michelin presence at the events in 2016 and feel free to stop by our stand to find out more about our tyres.”
