Launched to the world’s press last September at the Spanish Ascari complex, Maxxis have announced that the new Supermaxx ST will be available in the UK from February 2016.
The Supermaxx ST is a big leap forward for Maxxis, and utilises the very latest in radial construction technology to deliver sport touring riders optimal performance at high speeds.
The Taiwanese firm has also used their advanced nano-dispersement silicon dioxide (SiO2) technology to deliver a more consistent level of performance, and increase grip levels.
The new tread design with it’s unique v-shaped arrangement of grooves increases traction and helps to maintain more consistent handling characteristics throughout the life of the tyre. Maxxis have also used 3D sipes to improve tread stiffness, and a mono-spiral steel belt help to improve handling and give riders a more secure feel on the road.
When compared to the Supermaxx Touring M6029, the ST’s larger contact patch, stiffer casing and reworked tread compound delivers a claimed 15% more front-end turn-in grip and 17% more mid-corner rear-end grip, whilst rear tyre cornering traction has been improved by a claimed 18%.
The Supermaxx ST has been developed with a wide range of mid to heavyweight sports touring bikes in mind, and has benefited from ongoing feedback from official development advisor Chris ‘Stalker’ Walker.
