A stunning ride on home soil saw German rider Manuel Lettenbichler clinch the 2019 World Enduro Super Series title this weekend in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
Lettenbichler, who rides on Michelin’s aptly named ‘Enduro‘, put in a superb performance at the notorious GetzenRodeo to lead from the very early stages of the event as he won the 2 hour race.
The finale saw twenty riders go head-to-head in an 80 minute plus-one-lap race, with Manuel leading the charge ahead of fellow Michelin rider Alfredo Gomez.
As the race took its toll, Taddy Blazusiak managed to draw level with Lettenbichler before crashing as they entered the final Red Bull X-Loop to hand the advantage back to the championship leader.
Bike problems for Blazusiak in the final X-Loop allowed Gomez to take the runners up spot, as he jumped from 4th to 2nd in the overall championship standings.
“I’m over the moon,” said an emotional Lettenbichler following his win.
“I can’t describe it. To be honest I nearly cried on the podium.“It was such a long, tough race and it’s been such a long season. To finish the year with a first place in front of my home fans is amazing, but to win the championship as well is unbelievable. I’m on top of the world right now.”
