The Superdream was a hugely popular model for Honda back in it’s day, with well over 70,000 sold in the UK alone during it’s lifetime.
In the 3rd February 2016 edition of MCN, our very own Bryn Phillips has been helping one reader find the right rubber for his CB250N restoration project – a bargain with just over 4,000 miles on the clock!
Tyre choice for both the 250 and 400 Superdream models is now very limited.
One popular pairing was the 3.60-19 ME11 front and 4.10-18 ME77 rear from Metzeler, but the German firm no longer make the front tyre.
However, the Avon Roadrider is acknowledged as one of the best cross-ply tyres on the market.
Avon themselves recommend a 3.25-19 Roadrider for the front, but this size is considerably taller than the original 3.60-19 at 664mm – raising the front by 11mm over the original ME11, or 8mm against a 90/90-19 Roadrider.
The metric 90/90-19 is almost identical to the 3.60-19 in terms of physical size, and we sell far more of these for the Superdream than the 3.25-19 front recommended by Avon.
The imperial equivalent of the 4.10-18 rear would be a 100/90-18 Roadrider.
