Italian electric motorcycle pioneers Energica have recently unveiled their new 2019 models.
Among the new models was the Ego Sport Black, whose design pays homage to Energica’s high performance MotoE Ego Corsa which has recently been seen testing at Valencia ahead of the championships inaugural season.
The Ego Sport was selected by MCN as their ‘Electric Bike of the Year’ in 2017, and their involvement in MotoE will serve as an important springboard for further development.
Their 2019 bike line-up, including the new Ego Sport Black, will feature a series of important new features including electronic throttle control and cruise control, plus several regenerative braking maps to improve overall range.
Mostly importantly, their latest software will reduce charging time by around 15% compared with current models.
Energica are already working closely with Michelin in the MotoE paddock, so it’s no surprise that they’ve turned to the French tyre brand when looking to equip their new electric sportsbike.
The Ego Sport Black will be fitted with the acclaimed Power RS hypersport tyre at the factory.
Michelin’s Power RS is a high performance road tyre, offering extremely high levels of outright dry grip, without compromising on the levels of wet grip previously offered by it’s Pilot Power 3 predecessor.
Riders are also using the Power RS on track, and road racer Davey Todd has even been using them at various Irish meetings on his Supertwin machine – so that gives you an idea of their capabilities.
The new Energica models will be available from dealers around the globe next year, but the Power RS is on the market now.
