Despite the wet and damp conditions at the opening round of the 2014 Ladies World Trials Championship Michelin rider Emma Bristow and the Sherco team took a convincing win just south of the city of Liege.
The area is well known for it’s changeable weather, but Emma held her nerve over three laps of ten sections on the course in front of around 6000 spectators to dominate the rest of the field.
Emma Bristow said following the event:
“The day started well as I kept my feet planted firmly on the footrests on the first lap as my rivals all conceded marks. When the rain came down I remained focused and despite the conditions deteriorating I opened up the points difference even more on my second and third laps to take the win by a huge marks advantage”.
“In these type of events concentration is key and I remained focused on the job in hand all day. At the close of the opening lap my confidence was very high as I had seen the scores of my nearest rivals. Riding in the wet conditions has never been a problem for my-self and I actually relished the challenge of the hazards becoming harder with the passage of each rider”.
“The whole team is working towards the ultimate goal of winning the Ladies World Championship and this results shows that all the hard work is paying off. It’s quite a break now until the next WTC but I will continue to train and look forward to the next event”.
