Dunlop Tyres Breaking TT Records

Dunlop Tyres lap records Isle of Man TT

Dunlop are the most successful tyre brand in the history of the Isle of Man TT.

With 2018 race week well underway, Dunlop riders have already broken two lap records as the sun shines down on the famous Mountain Course.

Michael Dunlop netted his 16th TT win earlier in the opening Superbike contest, and yesterday he added another win to his tally by winning the Monster Energy Supersport TT race.

Michael was already the class lap record holder, but he beat his 2013 time with a 129.197 lap on the 600. Dunlop led from the off, and held a 5 second advantage before the first pit stops. He eventually crossed the line 20 seconds ahead of his nearest rival, with fellow Dunlop rider Peter Hickman also securing 3rd on the Smiths Triumph.

Later that day, Hickman would go on to win his first ever TT race as he stunned the crowd with a series of fast laps in the RL360 Superstock race. Riding on Dunlop’s treaded race tyres, Hickman put in an amazing 134.403mph lap, just three tenths off the outright lap record, which was set on slicks. Hickman also set four new fastest Superstock sector times, and the fastest ever time for the Ramsey to Bungalow section with a 3:11.671.

Michael Dunlop finished 5 seconds behind the BSB star, and David Johnson was 4th on the Gulf BMW as the Australian put in another solid performance.

With more races to come later this week, it promises to be a great week for Dunlop Tyres who have 3 wins from 3 so far in the 2-wheel classes.
