With the significant growth in sales of new, retro styled bikes many riders are looking for a classic style tyre which offers modern day performance.
To meet that increasing demand, Dunlop have announced the launch of a brand new tyre; the TT100 GP Radial.
Inspired by the first production tyre to achieve a 100mph lap at the TT, the tyre is set for a European debut at this year’s Classic TT which takes place in August.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of that famous event, which saw Malcolm Uphill ride his works Triumph Bonneville to victory with the fastest lap of 100.37mph using Dunlop K81 tyres. This was the first time a production tyre had been used to break ‘the ton’ on the 37.7 mile mountain circuit and Dunlop rechristened the K81 as the TT100 to commemorate this achievement. The TT100 has remained in production since, underlining Dunlop’s commitment to providing tyres for classic motorcycle owners.
Dunlop state that this new tyre is an ideal fitment for riders of bikes including the BMW R NineT, Yamaha XSR and Kawasaki Z900RS who want an option which fits in with their machines heritage look.
Engineers have made some minor changes to the tread pattern used by the new radial, which improves rigidity and line holding abilities in the corners. The rear tyre uses Dunlop’s proven Jointless Belt construction, which ensures more stable handling and a more consistent size of contact patch by eliminating the belt overlaps in the tyre carcass.
A high silica compound increases tread compliance at lower temperatures, which boosts grip levels and rider confidence. In combination with a specially formulated Dunlop polymer,durability is also enhanced.

Two front sizes and four rear sizes are planned at present, covering more than sixty different machines from sixteen different bike brands.
