In the penultimate round of the AMA Supercross 2014 season Dunlop rider Ryan Villapoto claimed his 4th successive series title in front of a packed out crowd in Las Vegas, Nevada.
After suffering for much of the season with a recurring knee ligament injury Ryan pushed on through the pain on his Dunlop shod Kawasaki KX 450F to claim an outright win in Las Vegas, with KTM riders Ryan Dungey and Ken Roczen finishing both race and season 2nd and 3rd respectively.
With 4 consecutive titles under his belt riding on Dunlop tyres, Villapoto has now opted to have surgery on his recurring knee problem meaning he will be unable to defend his motocross title later on this year but the 25 year old Californian is sure to be back fighting next year to see if he came make it five in a row!
Elsewhere in the Womens Motocross World Championship in Valkenswaard Kiara Fontanesi regained the championship lead with a strong showing on her Dunlop shod Yamaha, but she now needs to wait until the French Grand Prix to try and extend her one point lead at the top of the championship over Natalie Kane.
