After a thrilling season in the Moto2 and Moto3 World Championships, Dunlop have added two new faces to their Hall of Fame.
With eight wins under his belt this season, Francesco Bagnaia claimed the Moto2 title after only his second season in the class. In his rookie season, Bagnaia finished 5th overall to win ‘Rookie of the Year’, and clearly this gave him the confidence to go on an take the top spot. He opened with a win in Qatar, and has looked in fine form all season long.
Next season, Bagnaia will be making his debut in MotoGP with the Pramac Racing team, which underlines Dunlop’s commitment to the ‘Road to MotoGP’ programme. The tyre company supports a number of series across the globe which provide a ladder to the premier class, including the British Talent Cup here in the UK.
Also winning the opening race of the season in Qatar, Jorge Martin went on to take 7 wins in 2018 and secure the Moto3 title in Sepang. The Spaniard has also come through one of Dunlop’s supported series, having been a front runner in the Red Bull Rookies Cup.
Wim Van Achter, Motorsport Manager, Dunlop Europe, praised the winning duo:
“Both championships feature some of the closest racing in motorsport. To win a race is very difficult, to win a championship requires incredible talent and mental strength. Bagnaia and Martin join a long list of Dunlop champions and we are proud to support them. There’s one round left in the championships and the Valencia finale also hosts the British Talent Cup, so there will be three opportunities for fans to see the next generation of talent in our ‘Road to MotoGP’ programme.”
Other Dunlop ‘Hall of Famers’ include Marc Marquez, Pol Espargaro and Johann Zarco to name but a few.
