Dunlop Chasing Macau GP Glory

Dunlop Macau GP 2018

The 2018 Macau GP has already got off to a positive start as far as Dunlop Tyres are concerned, with their man Peter Hickman going fastest in FP1.

The Smiths Racing rider and 2016 Macau winner posted some very impressive times, putting him ahead of Michael Rutter on Metzeler in second place.

Macau can quite rightly claim to be one of the most testing road circuits in the world, where precision and bravery are both key to victory.

A former Portuguese territory, Macau boasts a 6.1km long street circuit which includes a flat-out start run on the waterfront followed by a challenging climb and many hairpin bends as riders climb the streets ahead of the final steep descent to the finish line.

With barriers right at the very edge of the track, there is little margin for error.

A number of front runners including TT lap record holder Hickman have opted for use Dunlop at this year’s Macau GP. He is joined by the likes of Derek Sheils, David Johnson and Phil Crowe to name but a few.

All teams running Dunlop will be supplied with their KR106 & KR108 slick tyres, which are also available for serious trackday riders and club level racers via any local dealer.

Pat Walsh of Dunlop Motorsport said:

“It may not be a round of a championship, but the road racing stars treat the Macau GP as a highlight of their season alongside the North West 200, Isle of Man TT and Ulster GP. It is demanding event and the nature of the circuit, with everyday street tarmac, high speed sections and acceleration zones that require optimal traction, make tyre choice critical. We are delighted that so many top riders have chosen Dunlop.”
