This year we are working in partnership with Bridgestone to sponsor D.S.C Cornwall Kawasaki, one of the southwest’s leading motocross teams.
Running on the manufacturer’s very latest Battlecross tyres, which are exclusively available to the UK trade from Cambrian Tyres, the team are competing in a number of championships including the Premier MX series.
The second round of the Premier MX series recently took place at a very muddy Landrake Moto Parc near Saltash in Cornwall.
Rider Sunny Thompson, who has been riding well in the opening rounds of the British Masters and MX Nationals, was confident that despite the difficult conditions the Bridgestone tyres would cope well and give him the best chance of making the podium.
A couple of big names also entered the fray at Landrake as wild cards, but Sunny kept his head about him and came home with two excellent podium finishes.
Qualifying in 5th place, Sunny got a great start in the opening moto to move to the front of the pack. The chasing group of riders eventually caught up with him, and amongst the chaos Sunny managed to cling on to a well earned 3rd place.
In the second moto Sunny again stormed in to the lead, which he held on to for ten minutes or so. He was eventually caught by the rising Honda star Graeme Irwin, but Sunny stuck to him like a limped until a last lap incident with a back marker saw his leg get stuck in his own rear wheel. After freeing his leg, Sunny got moving once again and managed to hold on to 3rd place for another well earned podium and more valuable championship points.
