After a long winter of development and design work, Michelin backed racer Daley Mathison unveiled his 2016 team colours and sponsors to a crowd of excited on lookers.
A lot of pre-season testing and many hours spent in the garage had the Hol-Taj Suzuki in fine fettle ahead of the Spring Cup at Oliver’s Mount last weekend, Daley’s first competitive outing of the 2016 season.
The hard work started at Jerez with a private test at the Spanish GP circuit, with Daley quickly getting to grips with the track despite it being his first ever visit. The team gained further valuable data at one of their favourite UK venues, Darley Moor. Despite the cold conditions, Daley recorded a new Personal Best at the circuit, his Michelin race rubber providing that all important level of confidence inspiring grip.
A regular competitor at Oliver’s Mount since the age of 15, it’s home from home for Daley – and he secured his first ever win there last year in some very wet conditions.
This year spectators saw Daley record some excellent results on the opening day of the Spring Cup, taking first in the Junior and 2nd in the Senior race.
However, with the bike plagued by technical issues early on during the second day, the team had to withdraw from the action, giving up any chance of an overall podium finish.
