Charlton’s Mission To The Manx

Richard Charlton Manx Grand Prix TyresManx GP veteran Richard Charlton will once again be loading up his race van as he heads for the Isle of Man, backed by Michelin Tyres.

This year Richard will be competing in both the Junior and Senior classes, running the latest Michelin Power Cup Evo tyres on his Yamaha R6.

Richard has raced at the Manx since 2011, and with four years of experience under his belt, he is well aware of the challenges the famous Mountain Course poses for both bike and rider. Last year a run of bad luck, combined with some pretty dreadful weather put pay to his attempts to beat the competition, but this year he is back even more determined.

In preparation for this year’s Manx GP, Richard has been working hard to prepare both the R6 and himself. With all the usual checks and maintenance on chains, sprockets and air filters for the R6, there is a change to the normal plans this year as all practice runs will be run using his existing engine. However, race week will see him fit a newly prepared engine which is already waiting for him on the island. Richard has also had to put in some hard work to make sure he is physically fit enough to stand up to the rigorous demands of the famous course.

When it comes to tyres Richard says: “Tyres are everything, they give you all your confidence. If you can trust your tyres you can really push your bike to the limit. I’ve been racing on Michelin tyres for over six years now and they always perform well. I like their predictability, I always know how they are going to react.”

The full Michelin race range is available to the UK trade from Cambrian Tyres at the best possible prices, and you can find out more about the Power Cup Evo here.
