Bridgestone Battlecross – “Sure To Prove Popular With Clubman Racers Around The UK”

Battlecross X30 Bridgestone ReviewBack in February, Bridgestone hosted their first every motocross product event at the Apex Circuit near Worcester.

Along with Paul Malin, Amy Dargan and Bridgestone sponsored riders such as Jack Timms, riders were able to test the new Battlecross X30 medium to hard terrain tyre on a pair of Kawasaki KXF250 and KXF450 machines.

Among the riders who decided to brave the wind rain was Dave Willet of MOTO magazine, and in their latest issue he has been giving his thoughts on the new X30. Thanks to the rain lashing down at Apex, conditions were not ideal for testing the medium to hard terrain tyre, with the woodchip on top being super soft, and then like greasy hard pack underneath.

“On both the 250 and the 450 I had no issues with the front tyre at all. It didn’t feel like it washed out and in the soft woodchip still gripped. And it cleared the mud well as the track had muddy sections where the front could really have clogged up” said Dave.

“The rear tyre was good on the 250F, even on the hard and wet slick places, and hooked up fine in the woodchip muddy sections. I never felt any surprises around the track. And tyre wear was consistently good too as despite a few stony sections and the bikes being constantly used all day, the tyres held up well with very little wear.

On the 450 the front was as good as on the 250 with no nasty surprises. The rear was fine in the tacky sections but on the more slippery sections the rear did slide a little more and even spin up. Maybe this is due to the aggressive hit on the Kawasaki or maybe the ground conditions, or a combination of both.

With a great front tyre and decent grip for the rear in tricky conditions, the new X30s will get a lot of fans. Especially as they seem to last very well – often a huge consideration for clubmen racers.”

The Battlecross range includes three different tyre options:

  • X20 – Soft to Medium terrain
  • X30 – Medium to Hard terrain
  • X40 – Hard terrain

The Battlecross X40 was also recently tested in the USA by MX Action magazine who reported that “you always know what the X40 is going to do. It never wallows or breaks free. It worked very well in just about every condition we tried it in. This tyre is the full package. It has both great performance and excellent durability. Bridgestone is back!”

To launch the new range we have an exclusive trade only deal on all Battlecross tyres, which you won’t get from any other supplier! Find out more here.
