If you’ve got a heavier bike along the lines of an FJR1300 or R1200RT, it’s worth checking if your tyre manufacturer produce a GT version of their sports touring tyres, as these bikes place different demands on tyres. As such, some manufacturers make GT versions which have a different construction to suit the bike.

The Bridgestone Battlax BT-023 is now one of the very best all-round tyres in the mid price point segment, with performance close to even the very latest hoops.
The Sportmax Roadsmart from Dunlop also offers great mileage, even when compared with the very latest design, whereas the Pilot Road 3 from Michelin offers outstanding wet weather grip and rear tyre mileage, although the heavily siped front can exhibit some cupping on the shoulders on certain bike models.
