Avon Extend Castle Combe Sponsorship Deal

Castle Combe Avon sponsorship

Located just 11 miles away from their Melksham HQ, Avon Tyres have been involved with Castle Combe Circuit for many decades.

The British based manufacturer started sponsoring Castle Combe way back in 1952, and after 65 years of working together they’ve just extended that deal for a further 3 years.

In practical terms, this deal will mean more visible branding around the circuit along with banners and flags including on the second footbridge between Quarry and the Esses.

Castle Combe’s most iconic feature is arguably the Avon Tyres footbridge which crosses the pitlane entry, and for many years it was thought that the company logo was put in place in 1954. However a recent discovery by the circuit’s Chief Archivist Pete Stowe has found that it was in place two years earlier than previously thought.

“It was certainly an unexpected turn of events and one which I struggled to believe when Pete first informed me,” explained Graham Marshallsay, managing director of Castle Combe Circuit. “Not only does it underline the shared history enjoyed between ourselves and Avon Tyres, it has served to make the relationship even closer still.”

Shane Wride, Avon Tyres’ development and brand manager, commented, “Avon’s sponsorship of Castle Combe really is a remarkable achievement, particularly when you stop to consider how much the world of motorsport has changed since 1952. We are delighted to be able to continue working with such an important local business – here’s to another 65 years.”

Due to the bumpy nature of the track surface, Castle Combe is a popular testing place for some of the world’s top road racers and their teams as the conditions are a close match for those experienced around the likes of the Isle of Man TT.

Avon Tyres will now be fitted to all suitable track support vehicles at Castle Combe, used at the many 2 and 4-wheel events throughout the year.
