Triumph’s retro styled Bobber has been a huge success for the brand, so much so that they recently teamed up with contemporary street artist D*Face to create this one off special to celebrate the 59th anniversary of 1959.
Although they weren’t quite lucky enough to get their hands on the bike pictured above, Bike Magazine have had one on test for 5,000 miles, and seem to have been suitably impressed so far.
Just like the D*Face one-off special, the standard bike also comes on Avon’s venerable Cobra tyres – which Bike’s Executive Editor Mike Armitage also seemed to rate.
“OE Avons are designed specifically for the Bobber” comments Mike in the latest issue of the magazine. “Triumph tried Bridgestones from the yamaha XV950 and a bevy of Dunlops, but nothing worked. So they asked Avon to create bespoke rubber. Spy shellgrip and footpegs can scrape in the wet and cold of winter. 5,000 miles completed, and still going strong, thanks to Avon’s typically thick tread.”
This isn’t the first time that Triumph have teamed up with Avon to create bespoke rubber, as the British manufacturer became the first in the world to produce a radial whitewall motorcycle tyre just a couple of years ago for the Thunderbird LT. This was also a Cobra.
Avon’s custom and cruiser tyre in immensely popular with riders, and is certainly one of our top selling products for this market.
