High Praise For TrailSmart In The Wet

Dunlop TrailSmart review

Dunlop’s latest ADV bike tyre, the TrailSmart, has been receiving high praise from journalists at two leading European magazines following recent tests.

With burgeoning sales thanks to the likes of BMW’s R1200GS Adventure and the new Honda Africa Twin, tyre manufacturers are all clamouring to get a foothold in the adventure tyre market – and although most of these bikes never leave the tarmac, riders still want something that looks the part whilst performing like the latest sports touring rubber.

In a wet weather test conducted by German magazine Motorrad testers commented that the TrailSmart was “near unbeatable in the wet emergency braking test from 100km/h” awarding it 9 out of a possible 10.

Released in July 2016, French magazine MotoMag awarded the tyre 5 stars for both wet and dry performance on a BMW R1200 GS (120/70R19 Front, 170/60R17 Rear) during testing at Fontage Proving Grounds. Testers compared it to a sports tyre in the dry and highlighted the light handling and easy turn-in, along with excellent feedback and grip in the wet.

Dunlop TrailSmart reviewAndy Marfleet, Moto Marketing Manager for the manufacturer said that the results confirmed Dunlop Europe’s own findings:

“The recently launched TrailSmart used our advanced technologies such as Jointless Belt Construction with the aim of offering improved handling in a variety of conditions. Trail riders demand this stability and confidence on the road, but with the capability that allows the more adventurous rider to push on where the trails begin. We are pleased that the strong wet and dry performance of TrailSmart has been recognised. It was our goal to design a tyre that met the demanding and varied needs of European trail bike riders.”
