This weekend at Aragon, Dunlop will be celebrating their 100th race as sole supplier to the Moto2 series – and a whole 65 months have passed since Shoya Tomizawa won that inaugural Dunlop only race back at Losail in April 2010.
With that in mind, the team at Dunlop are in something of a reflective mood and have been look back at some of the statistics and figures from their 5+ year tenure in the series:
- 26 different race winners
- 42 different riders on the podium
- 16 race wins by Marc Marquez, the most by a single rider
- 5 different champions – Toni Elias, Stefan Bradl, Marc Marquez, Pol Espargaro, Tito Rabat (and it’s unlikely that Johann Zarco will be surpassed this season)
- 7 race winning manufacturers – Kalex (47), Shuter (32), Moriwaki (8), Speed Up (7), Motobi (2), FTR (2) and Tech3 (1)
- 90 circuit & best lap records
- 2.01 seconds / 1.95% – The average improvement in pole position lap times*
- 55.4 seconds / 2.2% faster races – the average improvement in race time*
- 33 different tyre options – 14 fronts and 29 rears
- 674 points – the most scored by any rider, Dominic Aegerter
- 7 riders competing in every single season – Aegerter, Corsi, Luthi, Pons, Simon, Simeon and West.
- 346 points – the highest score by a rider in a single season, Tito Rabat in 2014.
- 75 different riders have scored points in Moto2 races
- 316,540 kilometres covered by riders in the first 99 races
- 633,080 kilometres covered by Dunlop tyres in the first 99 races – that’s more than enough to get you to the moon and back!
- 61,238 kilometres covered by all riders in 2011 – the largest distance in a single season.
- 67,857 laps ridden during the first 99 races
- 3,464 gird positions have been occupied since the first race
- 35 riders finished at Indianapolis in 2011, the most of any race so far.
- 19 riders finished at Indianapolis in 2014, and also Le Mans in 2012, the least of any race so far.
