Avon Supports All-Star Cast For 2015 Classic TT

Classic TT 2015

It’s been a little over two months since we were treaded to an absolutely fantastic Isle of Man TT, and now the islanders are preparing to hear the road of engines once again as the Classic TT and Manx Grand Prix descend upon them.

With a long history of participation at the TT, Avon Tyres will be at the 2015 Classic providing the vast majority of competitors in the 500 and 350 TT races with their modified Roadrider race rubber. Some of the sport’s biggest names will be competing on the British made tyres including John McGuinness, Michael Dunlop, Gary Johnson and Keith Amor.

The standard Avon Roadrider is one of the most popular cross-ply sport mileage fitments available, with a wide range of sizes covering both classic and more modern machines. Classic TT regulations state that the maximum tyre width on race bikes can be no wider than a 110/80 18 fitment, and Avon have been producing an adapted racing version of the Roadrider for exactly this type of racing since 2009.

The British manufacturer is also looking for glory in the Manx Grand Prix, with supported rider Rob Hodson riding the CMS Kawasaki Supertwin which took 6th place in the Lightweight TT back in June.

Avon Motorsport’s Steve Smith commented, “The team want Rob to continue using our Avon Xtreme race tyres, so hopefully he can get Avon on the podium. We will also have a good chance of podium places in the 400cc race with Nick Anderson on a Kawasaki and Alex Sinclair on a Yamaha, both up-and-coming stars of the TT course.”
